And the saga continues

Brought my coach to camping world for a step recall. Big mistake, I know. Anyway I've been having some electrical problems since my end of last season trip. I think I got hit with a surge. My house battery disconnect switch stopped working as well as my water level switches and outside radio. I figured I'd ask CW to fix the battery disconnect switch. Well they did, for $600.00. Said they ran a new wire. Must be made of diamonds and gold. Anyway, I go to start the genetrator this morning and it won't start from inside or outside the coach. The circuit breakers are all good on the genny itself. The weird thing is when I hit the genny start button inside it makes the same beeping sound the the house disconnect switch makes when power is on in the house section. I plugged into shore power and started the genny as normal, from inside. Disconnected from shore power and it's running as it should. I called CW and explained to them this issue and asked the service worker to talk to the mechanic who worked on my coach and he said it doesn't make sense. I asked where he ran the line for the disconnect switch and he said the house batteries. Seems to me they wired it wrong somewhere and aren't going to make it right. Any insite from you folks here what I can look? I'm leaving to head out camping in about an hour and can pick away at it while I'm at the campground. Oh, and as an added bonus when I picked up my coach 2 days ago they ran into something with my driver side mirror and cracked the housing and scraped all the paint off, didn't secure the hood and had my ignition in the "on" position. What an awful service department. Sorry, rant over. Thank you for any help. Bob

RE: Wireless bluetooth thermometers?

Well, Thank you all for the suggestions and clarifications on what I actually need. I just ordered the Waggle lite thermometer on Amazon Prime. Paid $129.99 and its scheduled to arrive tomorrow. I'll check back after our trip next week with how well it worked. Thanks again.

RE: Wireless bluetooth thermometers?

You do not want Blue Tooth. as it is very short range. perhaps 200 feet give or take you want Wi-Fi and a "house" router so that you can leave the RV connected to the internet and monitor using the internet from miles away. Im not at all tech savvy, Could I use my wifes cell phone as a hotspot and monitor the thermometer from my phone?

Wireless bluetooth thermometers?

I'm looking for a good wireless blue tooth thermometer to monitor the interior of the motorhome for our dog while we're out during the day. It's always bothered me that an ac would shut down or the motorhome would lose power for whatever reason and we'd lose our dog. Any suggestions for a wireless blue tooth thermometer for an i-phone? We typically are only away from the MH a few hours to hit the beach or have lunch or dinner. Thanks Bob

RE: What power steps do I have

2010. If you had a recall, that means you have the original LCI/Coach Step brand. Double steps complete, are anywhere from $700 to $1000 (E Trailer)depending on the model(Kwikee). TRIPLE steps(Kwikee) are about $1300. Kwikee is about the ONLY replacement you can use. The wires on your original step can be used. The installation requires you have to drill 4 new mount holes in the mount plate of the new step. AND you may have to change out the door frame pin switch or Magnet if you have either. We charge 2 hours labor($175 per hour) to replace steps when the new step has to be drilled for the mount holes and door switch modified. The NEW steps come with all necessary hardware and door switches. So, as you can see, CW is selling you a step with almost $1000 mark up over THEIR cost which is LESS than E trailer. Doug PS, your desription of the problem points to a (what I call it) PIE gear that has broken teeth. $52. https://store.lci1.com/coach-step-gear-plate-assemblies-black-163164 This is the recall Kit. https://store.lci1.com/coach-step-recall-kit-various-sizes-coach-step-recall-kit This is the motor $140. So, if you need BOTH parts less than $200 to fix. https://store.lci1.com/imgl-step-motor-and-screws-14nm-676061 Thank you very much. I really appreciate it.

What power steps do I have

Good morning all. I plan on replacing the power steps on our 2010 Damon Challenger 368 this off season. They did have a recall but as per Camping World this didn't solve the problem. When I open the door the gear works to try to extend the steps but is not making contact with the mechanism that actually extends them. CW quoted me a price of 1800 just for the steps, not including installation. I'm sure I can figure out how to install new steps. I'm a parts changer at best, not a mechanic. So if I'm told what to replace I can usually take care of it. When it comes to diagnosing issues, not so much. Thanks, and happy weekend! Bob

House batterys

I'm trying to charge my house batteries. They're "Deka Pro Master" GC15's I had to add over a gallon of distilled water to them today and when I tried to charge them I got an "internal shorted cell" error message on my black and decker charger. I hooked up a trickle charger and I'm going to charge it overnight and see if I can salvage them. Searching the web for GC15 batteries they're all quite expensive. $250.00 or so a piece. Any suggestions to places I can find affordable GC15's? I just bought an engine battery and coughed up $215. I really am in no mood to pay 700 bucks for batteries. Seems everything in this POS broke last season and I've got a ton of work to do to get it working as it should. Pretty sure I got an electric surge on one of my last outings. Thanks Bob
